ABOUT THE MUSICIAN
Hailed by The STRAD with “amazing conviction and variety of tone,” 20-year-old Hannah Tam has garnered distinctive international accolades, including the Third Prize and Audience Prize at the Menuhin International Competition Junior Division 2021, the Audience Prize at “Mini Violini” of The Concours Musical International de Montréal 2019 where she was the only awardee, the Memorial Performance Award at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, First Prize and Overall Winner of Concorso Andrea Postacchini in Italy, amongst others. In 2020, Hannah was granted The Certificate of Commendation by the Hong Kong SAR Government and a recipient of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship. Hannah is currently a Jubilee Ambassador of Baerenreiter.
Hannah has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various countries, including Japan, Finland, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Canada, and the United States, with renowned artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Gil Shaham, and the late Vladimir Mendelssohn. She has had the privilege to display her dedication to music in varieties of venues such as the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland, and the La Jolla Music Festival in San Diego. Following her concerto debut at age ten with the Virtuosi Italiani Chamber Orchestra in Verona, she has shared the stage with the Chamber Orchestra of Musici de Montréal, as well as solo appearances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, and the Kansas City Symphony in past years. Hannah has received invitations to perform with the Galveston Symphony and Hong Kong Premiere Performances Chamber Festival alongside artists Cho Liang Lin and Stefan Jackiw in the 2025-26 Season.
Since age twelve, Hannah has been studying with Ida Kavafian at The Curtis Institute of Music and recently began working with Benjamin Beilman. She currently plays on a 1757 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini violin, the "ex-Herten".
