Montol is a festival that celebrates balance, the moment when light and dark meet at the threshold of the old and new year. Though the origins of the name Montol are debated, it’s widely believed to represent the Winter Solstice Festival in Penzance. 🌒🌕
In 2007, the Cornish Christmas tradition of guise dancing was revived, bringing together the community to celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas. With roots dating back to the Middle Ages, this joyful tradition of dancing in grotesque or elaborate costumes lives on today. 🕺💀
