Montmartre Audio Walking Tour: Explore the Quaintest Part of Paris
About this Event
Montmartre is one of the most visited neighbourhoods in Paris, but most tours rush you through the obvious spots and leave out everything that makes it interesting. This self-guided audio tour changes that.
Led by Ellen, a Paris resident, the route takes you through the heart of the hill at your own pace. No group, no fixed schedule, just good storytelling through your phone. You'll cover the main landmarks and a handful of places that don't make it onto the average tourist map.
Along the way you'll find out why a windmill became the most famous dance hall in Paris, how a handful of broke artists living in a crumbling building invented modern art, and what a 3rd-century martyr has to do with the name Montmartre. You'll also pass the last vineyard in Paris, the oldest surviving cabaret, a street nicknamed the Foggy Alley, and a pink house with a Picasso connection.
Stops include Sacré-Coeur, the Bateau-Lavoir, Place du Tertre, the Wall of Love, Moulin de la Galette, the Museum of Montmartre and more.
The audio follows your pace. Pause, rewind, linger. The route flows naturally so you're never doubling back or getting lost.
All you need is a smartphone, comfortable shoes and around two hours. A great option whether it's your first time in Montmartre or your fifth.
It's a tour guided by Exploro app, you will have the stops pinpointed on the map and the directions explained at each stop in case you need them.
