👯♀️🇨🇺 Calling all dancers, salseros and Cuban dance enthusiasts! 🇨🇺👯♀️💃 Next Monthly Salsa workshop happening next Friday, May 22nd, from 5:15pm-6:15pm at DownStreet!! For this month we'll dive into Cuban Salsa specific solo steps & shines again as well Timba musicality (popular Cuban music that Cuban-style salsa or Casino is danced to) since there are some steps we didn't get to last time!!
🌟 Improve your understanding of Timba music and when to add certain steps of different Cuban dance styles to your salsa taking it to the next level!! Cuban Salsa as we see it today doesn't just include salsa steps, but also steps from other Cuban dances depending on the music! Timba music is a fusion of several different rhythms & styles such as son cubano, Rumba, funk, jazz etc, so learning how to match that will make us more in tune with the music and better dancers! Relevant dance styles include but are not limited to Rumba (Afro-Cuban), Mambo (1940s), Pilón (1950s) and even Reggaeton or Reparto (newer urban music & dance style in Cuba) - only a select few will be covered in this workshop! 🌟
✨️ Expect some body movement exercises and a small combo at the end of class!
❗️ Participants should have a bit of dance experience of some kind OR at least know the very basics salsa solo steps!
