Grapefruit Lab drop-in performance and self-expression workshops are a great space for artistic rejuvenation, meeting new creative collaborators, and for learning or practicing performance skills.
No prior experience is necessary, but experienced performers looking to get some reps in are also welcome! We will explore exercises influenced by Augusto Boal, Viola Spolin, and others — some comedic, some experimental, all expressive and fun!
- Who: Intergenerational 14+, no prior experience necessary
- When: Second Sundays 12:30-1:45pm, starting April 21 2024
- Cost: Pay what you choose (suggested donation $10)
-Minimum of three people must register for the class to take place
These classes are welcome to everyone, with a special invitation to artists who are LGBTQIA, BIPOC, femme-identified, or formerly incarcerated. All donations support our hybrid performance work, including arts programming in prisons.
Instructor Bio: Dr. Misty Saribal (she/her) is an experienced improv instructor, certified Theater of The Oppressed (TO) Joker, President of the Baton Rouge Improv Festival, and rebel theatre performance artist. Misty holds a doctorate in Performance Studies from Louisiana State University.
