Monthly Coin Club Meeting
First and foremost, you meet like-minded coin collectors in your area. Most people don’t boast about being a coin collector. One certainly should be careful who one shares that information with—for security reasons. But at a coin club, everyone is a collector. You are not alone!
All clubs have a “business” portion where you hear the minutes about the last meeting, get a current financial report, cover old and new business. This is a requirement to maintain not-for-profit status. Most of the time, this consumes only about five to ten minutes.
Then, there will be a presentation by one of the members. The presentation will cover topics such as Morgan Dollars, half cents, love tokens, currency, counterfeit coins, grading, and a host of other topics. The list is almost limitless. This is your chance to learn from others. Ask questions, join the conversation, share your knowledge. Presentation generally last ten to fifteen minutes.
The presentation is followed by an auction with lots provided by the membership. Sometimes there will be 15 to 20 lots to bid on. Most clubs require membership to place something in the auction, but anyone can bid.
Come visit! If you like what you see you can become a member for just $20 per year. If you don’t get your money’s worth you aren’t listening and learning. We meet on the third Tuesday monthly.
