Open stage performers and kids enter free - the rest of us contribute $10 to honour the feature band and contribute to local children's musical education through our partners at Harmony Project Sooke. Doors open at 6:30 pm to sign up for the one hour open-stage to be followed by a feature performance by Blackthorn Band.
Blackthorn is Vancouver’s longest-running Celtic group featuring a lineup of creative and talented musicians who share a love of Celtic music. Their repertoire is steeped in the musical traditions of Ireland and Scotland as well as the folk music of English and French Canada.
The results of their collective musical backgrounds and experience are evidenced in the high-calibre, entertaining performances they consistently deliver to audiences of all ages.
From lively jigs and reels, to songs with rousing choruses and heart-wrenching airs and ballads, they bring the music to life with their luscious harmonies and complex instrumentation.
