In the Finest Tradition: A Celebration of Preserving Black Military History & Awards of the Congressional Gold Medal
A fundrasier to preserve the history and legacy of the nations first African American Marines of WWII, with excellence and distinction. Hosted by the Montford Point Marines of America, Office of the Commandant, Headquarters Center, Detroit, Michigan and suported by the National Veteran Business Devlopment Council of Troy. This event is attended by guests nationwide, including citizens of Detroit. The 2024 keynote speaker is MajGen. Cornell Wilson (USMC-RET) who will assist in presenting the Congressional Gold Medal (Posthumously) to surviving family members on behald of WWII Montford Point Marines who died before receiving these honors initially conferrred in 2012, by President Barack Obama and the 112th U.S. Congress, in Washington, D.C. This event is attended by public and government officials, military dignitaries, veterans organizations, journalist, academians, historians,social justice advocates, and the general public.
