Monterey State Historic Park’s Demonstration Field Trip is appropriate for students 2nd grade and up. This 1.5 hour program is divided into two segments. Students will first learn about. Monterey’s indigenous tribe, the Rumsien Ohlone. State Parks staff will demonstrate acorn grinding as well as discuss hunting and gathering techniques. The second portion will take students to the Old Custom House to learn about maritime trade during the 1830s, when California was a territory of Mexico. Students will end the program with a scavenger hunt in the Custom House and time for the gift shop. The Demonstration Field Trip is offered Thursday and Friday mornings from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

We can accommodate two classes at a time, however the $75 cost is per class, meaning that two classes on the same day would have a cost of $150.
