About this Event

Monotype Printmaking (2 weeks)
Two Wednesdays, September 16 and 23, 2026
2:00pm - 5:00pm
Instructor: Lena Chermoshniuk
Class Capacity: 6 participants
Materials included | No prior experience needed | All skill levels welcome
Monotype exists in the generative space between painting and printmaking, combining the immediacy and visceral quality of painting with the charm and unpredictability of print. Under the instructor's guidance, participants will explore this unique approach to image-making, from composition and ink application to printing press operations. Participants will leave with a series of unique prints by the conclusion of the class.
Note: While basic tools will be provided, participants are welcome to bring their favourite oil-paint brushes as well as other mark-making tools.

About the Instructor: Lena Chermoshniuk is a visual artist working in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Her work explores muted colour palettes, subtle tonal shifts, and condensed spatial arrangements that blur the line between surface and depth. Using figures, landscapes, and recurring motifs, she creates a personal mythology rooted in memory, experience, and cultural and historic themes.

Note: While basic tools will be provided, participants are welcome to bring their favourite oil-paint brushes as well as other mark-making tools.

She studied under Israel Hershberg in a four-year intensive masterclass program at the Jerusalem Studio School, including two summer semesters in Italy, and was awarded the 2018 Avigdor Arikha Memorial Scholarship. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Arts from the Open University of Israel (2023, with honours).

Her work has been exhibited internationally at 155A Gallery (London), Alexander/Heath Gallery (USA), Rothschild Fine Art (Tel Aviv), and the RHA Annual Exhibition (Ireland). Alongside her studio practice, she has experience in wall painting restoration and as a tattoo artist, broadening her technical understanding of materials and surfaces.
