Monoprint workshop at Steart Marshes
About this Event
Learn the process of printing through a demo with Jackie, before being guided to create your own piece. Coated card will be inked up with blue/black oil-based ink. You will then use a range of tools such as twigs, brushes and torn card to make a variety of marks in the ink. Larger areas of ink can be lifted off with cotton buds or gauze to leave lighter areas. Plant material found on site, such as grasses or reeds can be added to give extra depth. A print will then taken from the plate, using a small portable press (Xcut Xpress die cutter), with the possibility of a second fainter ghost print.
No previous experience of printing is necessary to take part, this workshop is open to everybody.
Please note – participants should be prepared to get inky! This is oil-based inks so wear clothes that can get messy. We advise wearing sturdy boots and dressing for the weather as we will also be working outdoors amongst nature.
What to bring: A sketchbook and pens/pencils, if you don't have these we can provide them. Reading glasses if worn.
