CODY LEE MEECE
Event Photos

Cody Lee Meece is one-of-a-kind. Any attempted label will miss the mark, barring one… ORIGINAL. A singer-songwriter from Eubank, Kentucky, with an incredible self-taught mastery of the guitar, Cody is both a soulful creator and a dynamic entertainer. His influences run wide and deep, from Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix to Roger Miller and Waylon Jennings - and all points in between. His stage presence is an eclectic mixture of endearing aphorisms and banter with his fans, bone-chilling vulnerability, and unapologetic, 10-foot-tall-and-bullet-proof honky tonk rock… or, as he calls it “Raunchy Tonk!" His band The Poor Excuses is a tour de force ensemble of accomplished and award-winning master musicians - Daniel Stroud on bass, Logan Henry on pedal steel guitar, and Severn Edmondson on percussion.

When Cody Lee's debut EP “The Break” won “Best Album” at the Lexington Music Awards, it was clear to those who knew him that his abundant talent would not be a secret much longer. He then won the “Appy” (Appalachian Arts & Entertainment Award) for Best Guitarist, and the following year, Cody Lee and the Poor Excuses won “Best Country Band.” Cody Lee was recognized again in 2024 as a Lexi Nominee for “Country Act of the Year.”

Cody Lee Meece and The Poor Excuses' full-length album “Love Ain't Worth the Trouble” just released on the Feels Right label on June 14, 2024 and the band sold out their killer Album Release Party at the iconic Burl. Cody opened two sold-out Kentucky shows this spring for Chris Knight. Cody Lee Meece & The Poor Excuses are out on the road now promoting Love Ain't Worth the Trouble. They'll play four dates in August at Sturgis Buffalo Chip, and open for Dasha and Jelly Roll on the Wolfman Jack Main Stage on August 6!
