On Monday 01 December LantarenVenster will be transformed into a vibrant samba parade when the iconic Brazilian music collective Monobloco comes to Rotterdam. What started as a percussion workshop in Rio de Janeiro has become one of the most influential and beloved blocos in the world.
A bloco is the beating heart of the Brazilian street carnival a colorful mix of samba, percussion, singing, and dance, in which everyone can participate. Monobloco took this concept to the next level by blending traditional Brazilian rhythms with pop, rock, funk, and reggae, bringing this unique sound from the streets of Rio to major concert halls around the world. During Carnival 2024, Monobloco once again attracted hundreds of thousands of revelers in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and performed at major festivals across Brazil. Their shows are energetic, inclusive, and always festive.
