About this course
This is a dynamic method of screen printing where marks and images are made directly onto on the screen.
This course will allow you to build on your skills within screenprint. Developing your confidence through a one -day class.
This course will cover advanced techniques including colour blending, direct stencil-based imaging (manual drawing, hand-painting, and paper stencils), utilising manual positives, found positives and conventional film positives, mastering multi-layered prints, editioning, and print finishing.
This one-day course will give students a comprehensive introduction to
screenprinting/mono-screenprinting.
The course aims to:
Introduce participants to the terminologies, concepts and principles of screenprinting.
Encourage students to develop their own artwork ideas in a relaxed and supportive
environment.
Develop skills and ideas to include investigations into materials, drawing techniques,
processing, and printing.
Enable the development for creative and visual ideas through the language of screen printing
What will I need to bring?
All materials and equipment will be provided.
Participants should come with sketches, photography, or artwork sized at A4 to work
from. If you are using existing images please check and respect copyright.
Teas, coffee and biscuits are provided. You may want to bringa packed lunch and your own water bottle.
About the Tutor
Rosalind Lawless
An M.A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Rosalind’s work is regularly shown in
exhibitions both nationally and internationally and is held in National Galleries of Scotland
Edinburgh, Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museum, PATHFOOT Stirling University Collection
and Pallant House Gallery and Museum. She has recently been awarded the Royal Scottish
Academy Residencies at Peacock Visual Arts and the RSA William Littlejohn Award.
She has been a screenprint tutor at Glasgow Print Studio since 2005 and is a part-time
lecturer in Printmaking at Clyde College, Anniesland. She has taught Printmaking at
Tramway Visual Arts Centre, Gray’s School of Art Aberdeen, Royal College of Art London,
Kibble Education Centre, Glasgow Museum of Modern Art, East Kilbride Arts Centre,
Gartnavel Royal Hospital, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and teaches regularly with
Highland Print Studio, Edinburgh Printmakers and Studio Pavilion House for an Art Lover
Glasgow.
About Carousel Print Studio
Carousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based on the ground floor of Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate. Carousel runs educational workshops in printmaking and opportunities for creatives in Sheffield, in a bright, warm, accessible and well equipped printmaking studio.
Carousel's studio is located on the ground floor just to the left of reception. The doors are widened for ease of access and there is an accessible toilet. If you have any questions regarding access needs please do contact us at [email protected]
