Renowned Contemporary Watercolorist Vijay Kiyawat to present his 11th Solo Show at Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai.

Acclaimed contemporary watercolorist Vijay Kiyawat is set to showcase his latest solo exhibition “Monks: Legends & Traditions” at the prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery from 24 February to 2 March 2025. This highly anticipated event will offer art enthusiasts a glimpse into Vijay’s unique artistic approach characterized by intricate storytelling serene compositions and a deep philosophical undertone.
A celebrated figure in the world of contemporary art Vijay Kiyawat’s journey to prominence is as inspiring as his work. Born in 1946 Vijay transitioned from a four-decade corporate career as a CEO and IIT engineer to pursue his passion for watercolor painting later in life. His artistic style diverges from traditional landscapes and portraits exploring themes such as peace (Meditation series) seasons (Ritu-Sanhaar series) philosophy (Jainism series) and surrealistic architecture (Dream Garden series).
Vijay’s work described by admirers as “Happy Paintings” reflects his sensitivity optimism and spiritual connection to nature. Collectors across the globe including corporate giants like Goldman Sachs have acquired over 120 of his works. In 2024 Vijay’s art entered the auction world successfully sold by a leading auction house in Mumbai.

He has released several instructional videos and blogs on art techniques with his video “How to Flatten a Cockled Watercolor Painting” garnering over 72000 views. He is also a nominated member of the General Council of the Sahitya Kala Parishad which promotes art and culture in Delhi
Vijay’s works have been featured in national competitions exhibitions and journals including recognition as the Exhibition of the Year by the Art Journal of India Habitat Centre New Delhi.
