Monkey Wrench

Monkey Wrench is a Chico band that skipped the whole idea of being a cover band and did something better.

They don't lock into one fixed setlist and play it over and over. Every show starts with a question: What would make this night unforgettable? Then they build the playlist around that answer and learn it live. 

Sometimes that means a whole new set, top to bottom - some favorites come back around most nights, but there are always new surprises thrown in to make every night truly its own.

That's how you get April Foos Day, a full night of nothing but Foo Fighters on April Fools Day. Or Petty Party - wall to wall Tom Petty. Or their International Women's Day show, where Chico local women who deserved the spotlight stepped up and sang lead with the band all night.

They don't play often. When they do, it's an event, not a gig.

The lineup is stacked with players who've spent years on stages with Armed For Apocalypse, Surrogate, Marked For Death, and Lish Bills - real Chico musicians who've played and toured professionally.

Monkey Wrench has played one-time-only sets at many local venues, including Chico State and the Chico Downtown Plaza, and every show is one more reason to believe in this town. Chico's got things you can't find anywhere else, and Monkey Wrench wants to be one of them.
