About this Event
PORTLAND IN COLLOR & FRIENDS are thrilled to partner again to bring another iteration of MONEY TALKS, an evening for BIPOC creatives centered around financial Q&As and group consults for their individual and professional development. Get your personal and business money questions answered from a group of amazing, radical financial experts including accountants, lawyers, tax preparers, and fiscal consultants!
THANKS TO OUR FINANCIAL FRIENDS:
- Chaim Schramm, CFS, CAS, AIF (Chaim Investment Advisors)
- David Hackett, EA (Pacific Tax Relief)
- Jenna Goldin, EA/LTC (Shift Accounting)
- Jesse Swordfisk, CPA
- Nicole Long, CPA (Breath & Taxes)
Some community topics we're already looking forward to discussing:
- Tax prep, planning, and deductions for artists — what counts, what doesn't
- Creating timelines and deadlines to keep you books in order
- How to save even with small budgets
- Values-aligned investing
- How to find and vet good accountants
Plus, *your* finance-related questions! Attendees will be split into smaller groups for Q&A sessions and can rotate between the various professionals volunteering their time and expertise. This is a private event for BIPOC attendees only that will not be recorded to ensure privacy is upheld as much as possible. Please note, financial professionals are volunteers and aren't all BIPOC.
Thursday, February 13 from 6:00-8:30 pm. $5-$25 sliding scale tickets with RSVP required. All proceeds will be donated to grassroots group Operation Olive Branch. NOTAFLOF / email [email protected] for scholarship info.
Food and drinks available for purchase directly from The Moxy (save those receipts *wink*)

PORTLAND IN COLOR envisions a future where our city’s Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color creatives are supported beyond visibility. Through community events, local partnerships, and a public directory, we create and foster opportunities for collaboration, artistic and professional growth, and tools to sustain creative livelihoods. We highlight the voices, experiences, and contributions of our community as a vital step towards an equitable arts and media landscape.
Portland in Color is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible and your gifts directly support the sustainability of our work. Our federal tax ID number is 84-4215361. For any donation questions, please email [email protected].
OPERATION OLIVE BRANCH is the recipient of proceeds, but isn't involved with organizing this event. The org has been selected as they are amplifying verified aid requests for Palestinian families and are currently in phase 2 of their Direct Aid Initiative. A recent update shared: "in collaboration with our partners and heroes Pal Humanity, we are launching a pilot Family Encampment which will accommodate approx 300 individuals (30 families) in Phase 1. The camp will provide shelter, food, water, medical services, WiFi, electricity and other necessities. Phase 1 is Perinatal focused as it was the surplus of funding from the Perinatal Project fundraiser that launched it. However, Phase 2 will target families with disabilities and urgent medical needs as we have doctors living on site."
