About this Event
Running a small business means dealing with uncertainty—surprise expenses, customer issues, supply problems, or even legal trouble—and this workshop shows you how to recognize those risks early and plan for them before they turn into costly problems.
Join us for a simple overview of what business risk is, where it comes from, and why managing it matters. Participants will learn how to recognize common risks and begin building the groundwork for a practical risk management plan that supports long-term business success.
Workshop objectives:
- Identifying common risks associated with small businesses
- Recognizing internal and external factors that affect business risk
- Identifying situations that may cause risk
- Spotting early warning signs of potential problems
- Learning how to implement, monitor, and evaluate a risk management plan
About the Money Smart Series
The Money Smart Series offers financial workshops for small business owners and entrepreneurs. Instead of a traditional cohort program, participants can attend individual sessions based on their needs and schedule. Each workshop focuses on building financial knowledge and confidence to support smarter business decisions. The Money Smart Series is supported by Central State University Extension Campus.
About the Speaker
Stephen Washington is an Extension Educator for Community and Economic Development and Adjunct Professor of Economics and Finance, Central State University Wilberforce, OH. Mr. Washington previously taught Finance at the University of Akron and Cleveland State University. With over 30 years of experience in the areas of equity research, trading and marketing of equity securities and managed investment products. Mr. Washington has developed and successfully marketed several managed investment products focused on women and minority investors.
The Economic & Community Development Institute's Women's Business Centers of Ohio guide individuals at any stage of the business process. Through one-on-one counseling sessions with WBC staff and volunteers, you can get the direction and resources to meet your goals. Business advisers want to help you successfully start a business, or grow and expand your existing business -- increasing revenue and creating jobs for the local economy.
The WBCs present training workshops regularly to provide access to small business knowledge at no charge. They are the only SBA-funded Women's Business Centers in the state.
