About this Event
This workshop is part of the FREE Saturdays in the D adult learning program offered by the City of Detroit and University of Michigan.
We are thrilled to have Ally Financial as our sponsor for Saturdays in the D, supporting our mission to provide valuable educational opportunities and resources to the community.
Description:
Nearly 3 out of 4 Americans feel stressed about money according to a 2023 survey. If you’re one of them, there are probably plenty of reasons why. A mixed economy. Rising prices. Budget-breaking credit card, student loan or car loan debt. Chances are, one or more of these factors may have you sacrificing saving over spending and feeling like your finances are spinning out of control.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to break free of this cycle. How to overcome financial anxiety and make rational, forward-looking decisions. And how to practice money mindfulness at all times, spending without shame on things that you love and cutting back on things that you realize aren’t as important. We’ll focus on:
• Why: facing debt boldly and identifying ways to step into financial freedom.
• What: understanding the choices and challenges of credit and
debt from the lens of an insider and an outsider.
• How: discussing tips and tricks to build your credit score.
• Where: finding real-life ways to prioritize your debt, emphasize
conscious spending and build a safety net.
At the end of this hour, you’ll have concrete ways to begin owning your financial future. The time is now!
