Come prepared with 6-10 copies of ONE poem (PLEASE: up to a single page in length, 12-point font) to pass around the table; give & take constructive feedback with friends and colleagues. No RSVP necessary.
A friendly reminder: Constructive, balanced criticism is what we’re after; personal attacks and assumptions about the poet’s lifestyle or history aren’t helpful. (Not every poem is autobiographical!) Unnecessary harshness and bland praise are likewise discouraged. Find what speaks to you (or doesn’t speak to you) in the piece and articulate why. What is said in the group stays in the group—this should be a positive and safe environment for learning and sharing work.
