Monday Night Jam Session: The Henry Fears Quartet at the Blue Room
About this Event
Henry Fears runs a jam session of his own: since he graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2023, he's often hosted the one at the Mutual Musicians Foundation. Monday he brings his quartet to ours, with Drew Madden on keys, Jordan Faught on bass, and Jaylen Ward on drums. The four met at KCKCC in 2020 and have played together ever since.
Fears started under Doug Talley and Grant Morgan at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, then studied at KCKCC with Jim Mair, Brian Scarborough, and Jason Goudeau. His tune "Re-Entry" is on both the Youth Jazz program's 2022 Fellows album and the quartet's self-titled 2022 record. In January 2024 he put out Look Up!, a three-song single featuring his old teacher Doug Talley.
He also plays in the fusion quintet Arny Young and the Roughtet and in the Moon City Big Band and Septet.
The Blue Room, 1600 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO 64108. Monday, November 16, 2026, at 7 pm. $10 general admission; complimentary for AJM members, musicians, and students.
