Our mission is to ensure that no family endures the pain of a flawed legal process, and that every victim receives the justice they deserve.
About the Case:
Kiara Agnew, a 23-year-old woman from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, was tragically murdered at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Despite overwhelming evidence, including injuries inconsistent with the official narrative, her accused killer, Ryan Friesen, was found not guilty of femicide in a trial plagued with irregularities. Crucial CCTV footage was reportedly missing, forensic evidence was mismanaged, and translation barriers compromised the fairness of the proceedings.
Why We Are Protesting:
The Canadian government has failed to intervene meaningfully, leaving Kiara’s family to fight for justice on their own. We refuse to stay silent while an unjust system allows a murderer to walk free. Our nationwide protests demand:
• A full independent review of the case by legal experts
• Canadian government action to support Kiara’s family in seeking justice
• Pressure on Mexican authorities to ensure a fair retrial
• Greater protections for Canadian victims of crimes abroad
