About this Event
Does your heart soar and fill with awe whenever you see a monarch?
Are you concerned about the decline in monarch populations?
If so, please join our growing network of Colorado volunteers working with the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (MLMP) https://mlmp.org/ to understand the monarchβs breeding range and habitat use along the Front Range.
The MLMP is a long-term project focused on understanding the distribution and abundance of breeding monarchs in the US and Canada. MLMP volunteers typically spend 1 hour in the field each week monitoring their milkweed patch for eggs & caterpillars. Data from the project are helping inform national monarch conservation actions!
With the potential listing of the monarch under the Endangered Species Act, now more than ever monarchs need our help!
On May 19th from 9:00am-2:00pm, we will be holding an MLMP Training Workshop at the Brighton Rec Center. Participants will learn monarch biology & conservation, site monitoring protocols, and how to enter your data, along with time to practice in the field. Bring a lunch and water bottle.
MLMP training is free (but registration ticket required). Optional monitoring kits will be available for $30.
