MokaiMokai is a performing musician known for his songwriting, with lyrics that tell stories The East Bay Express called “…jazzy, jammy, bluesy structures..., tales of ordinary folks, and the human struggle in general.” He performs at clubs and festivals playing his own style of bluesy guitar on his original tunes and choice covers. His recent release "Going Back to Humboldt" is receiving airplay on N CA listener radio stations.
He's joined by bassist Mark Russell. Expect a rhythmic, compelling set, with provocative messages riding on soulful vocals.
The Third Thursday Band
The Third Thursday Band has been rockin’ in SF since 1996. Fronted by singer Mike Dingle, the band has appeared at a colorful assortment of indoor and outdoor venues. They continue to perform the songs of founding member, the late Steve Mackay’s (Stooges, Violent Femmes and Commander Cody) along with material ranging from Abba to Zappa (emphasis on the latter.)
The band features guitarist par excellence Mike McKevitt, drummer Bruce Slesinger (founding member of the Dead Kennedys), and Bruce Ducheneaux on bass. There's a marvelous revolving door of guest vocalists and musicians that bring the element of surprise to any gig.
The R-23s
The R-23s are a San Francisco based rock and roll band who play classic covers.
Members include Cahron Cross on vox, Elizabeth Cabraser on drums, Mellisa Gardner on flute and vox, Mark Chalos on keys, Phong Nguyen on guitar and vox and Charles Gonzalez (Stereo Glitter, Novio Electrico, Coo Coo Birds) on bass.”
