Modernist Smocking Workshop at Our TOAST Circle Pop-up

Join us at our TOAST Brooklyn shop for a modernist smocking workshop with Annie Coggan of Tatter Textile Library as part of our Circle Pop-Up.

Annie Coggan has been experimenting with multiple smocking techniques for the last ten years, informing a stitching approach that she refers to as modernist smocking.

The class will include Coggan’s insights on the history of this technique as well as a hands-on workshop examining smocking techniques and modernist experiments in the world of three-dimensional embroidery.

Please bring any woven fabric (at least 22” x 32”) that you wish to work with, a ruler, sewing needle, thread, a marker and scissors.
