Models of Models of Living brings together print and sound to explore disability interdependence, animacy and accessibility, drawing on early childhood educational models that sort the world into hierarchies of life and matter. A series of gum bichromate prints depicting temporary arrangements of knotted objects is paired with an interactive sound installation featuring a graphic score interpreted by Roberts' collaborator, disabled electroacoustic composer-performer Alexa Dexa. Together, the works move between categories of living and non-living, tracing the tensions of fragile structures that hold bodies, technologies, and relationships together over time.
The artist would like to thank the Manitoba Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts for their support of this project.
