For over 65,000 years before European colonisation, Wareamah (Cockatoo Island) was a place of deep cultural importance to the Wallumedegal, Wangal, Cammeraygal, and Gadigal peoples of the Eora Nation.
Mode Festival acknowledges that this event, and all the work we undertake, takes place on stolen land. We pay respect to the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Wallumedegal, Wangal, Cammeraygal and Gadigal peoples and to their Elders past, present, and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
