About this Event
Our Mahjong community is growing fast, and it’s time to get the tiles clicking! This event is our dedicated Open Play Night—a space for players to gather, match up, and enjoy full games in a relaxed, social atmosphere.
Please Note: No lessons or formal teaching will be provided at this event. This night is strictly for those who already know how to play, can independently manage their hands, and are ready to jump right into a game.
> If you have never played before, don't know the rules yet, or still consider yourself a beginner who needs guidance, please check out our dedicated Mahjong 101 Night instead! We'd love to get you trained up there first.
We’ll be playing Hong Kong/Chinese style Mahjong. To make sure everyone has a great time, we will have a few different tables set up for varying experience levels (from casual/slower players to more seasoned pros), ensuring you find the right seat and pace for your style.
If we have uneven amounts of players or more than available seating, we will rotate people in.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: BRING YOUR GEAR!
To make this open play a success, we need enough equipment! I will be providing two full sets, but we need at least two-three more sets (including mats and racks) to accommodate everyone. If you can bring your gear, please leave a comment or shoot me a message here so I can count on you and keep a tally!
### The Deets:
- Time & Place: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM @ SoberAF (Tacoma's premier alcohol-free bottle shop!)
- Cost: FREE to attend! There is no table fee. We just ask that you support our fantastic hosts by purchasing some of their delicious NA drinks while you play.
- Capacity: First come, first play! Tables will fill up as players arrive.
- Food & Snacks: This is a BYO Food event. Feel free to bring snacks or order delivery from a nearby business (please just clean up after yourself!).
