MNPS School Safety Training

Learning Objectives:

• Participants will learn how to report and document safety concerns, follow MNPS Emergency Response Protocols, respond to vehicle accidents, and maintain secure building access.
• Reporting Protocols: Identify how and when to report incidents such as suspicious activity, injuries, fights, or property damage; determine the correct point of contact (MNPS Security Dispatch, Site Supervisor, Principal, etc.); and follow documentation and incident reporting expectations within required timelines.
• Emergency Plans: Understand MNPS Emergency Response Protocols (ERP), develop afterschool-specific ERPs as required by TDOE, and implement building-specific evacuation routes, rally points, shelter-in-place procedures, and lockdown/lock-in steps. Participants will also learn where to access building maps, AEDs, fire extinguishers, and who communicates the all-clear.
• Vehicle Accidents: Apply the correct steps following a vehicle accident while transporting students or staff, including calling 911, notifying MNPS Security Dispatch, and completing required MNPS and partner reports.
• Building Access: Demonstrate knowledge of procedures for being locked out, who to call for access, and how to maintain secure entry points for students and families.
