About this Event

In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of justice, dignity, and beloved community, join us for a multigenerational afternoon of celebration, reflection, and action rooted in the arts.

This MLK Day program brings together choral music, storytelling, dance, and participatory workshops that invite all ages to listen deeply, move together, and imagine more just futures.

Pre-register for our special workshops of creativity, deed, and dialogue!


Program

10:00 AM - Youth & Elder Dialogue Workshop
12:00 PM - Doors Open for Main Program
12:30 PM – Welcome ceremony
1:00-2:15 PM – Concert: Every Voice Choir
2:30-3:15 PM – Dialogue Presentations
3:30-4:00 PM – Ubuntu Dance Share
4:00-5 PM – Workshop/performance: Songs for Racial Justice

Story Share for Racial Equality with Writopia

10 AM: Youth & Elder Dialogue Workshop led by Writopia
2:30 PM: Public sharing
An interview, writing and presentation project for youth and elders to meet with deep curiosity and bridge the lived past with the striving future through story sharing.

Children and Family Arts-Drum-Dance Workshop with Simba Yangala

2:30-4 PM
Led by dancer and educator Simba Yangala
Ages 3-11. Family members are welcome to participate
Ubuntu Gathering highlighting humanity’s roots in Africa with costumes, instruments, African dance, Peace Parade & Community Celebration

Songs of Racial Justice: Then and Now
