About this Event
Get crafty and come learn about Indigenous Latin American symbolism through textile art!
Make your own piece and find out more about the meaning behind these symbols. Using stencils made from recycled X-ray film and acrylics or clay, you’ll get the chance to apply these designs to recycled fabric or bark.
Afterward, you’ll even be able to attach your piece to a large community quilt.
The session will be facilitated by Chiquitines Cultural Workshop Inc. which provides enriching cross-generational experiences of Latin cultural heritages.
In Collaboration With
Mother Earth Textile Collective
MET Collective is presented by three artist facilitators, who intersect traditional art with contemporary technics utilising upcycled materials.
Led by Mariana Pulgini, experienced graphic designer, artist and educator, MET Collective will introduce participants to Indigenous Latin American symbolism to apply those on sections of recycled fabric. At the end of each session, Romina Degiorgi, talented multidisciplinary artist will attach each finished piece onto a big community quilt.
MET will collaborate with Chiquitines Cultural Workshop, a non-profit organisation whose aim is to provide enriching experiences via journeys of Latin American cultural discovery. Carolina Aguilera, passionate producer and educator will represent Chiquitines.
