About this Event
This event is for book lovers, music heads, and anyone who's ever used a song to say what words couldn't. Come ready to listen, laugh, and play.
We're bringing together Johnzelle Anderson, therapist and author of Mixtape: A Memoir, and the creators of Soundtrack The Game for a dynamic night of words and sounds.
Author Talk: In Mixtape: A Memoir, therapist and storyteller Johnzelle Anderson weaves a raw, lyrical portrait of resilience, identity, and healing. Told in tracks rather than chapters, Mixtape charts Anderson's journey from trauma to triumph-from being body-shamed and silenced to building a career in mental health and forming a family of his own. Along the way, he confronts the legacy of generational pain, redefines his sense of belonging, and takes a life-changing trip to Ghana in search of the roots his father never shared.
Game Night: Soundtrack The Game is a groundbreaking card game created for the culture built around music, movies, television, and life. Players read a Scenario Card and choose the Soundtrack Card from their hand that best fits the moment. Co-founders Nigel Dunn and Desirae Brown - both former Baltimore City teachers - built this game out of a shared love for music and fellowship. What song y'all got?
