Mixed Media Visualization Workshop

Workshop Overview:

Embark on an inward journey through the Mixed Media Visualization workshop at The Monastery, presented by The Rosemary Tree. Beginning with a guided meditation, then followed by the creative process of mixed media art, this unique experience invites you to access landscapes, symbols, and messages that emerge from within—places and insights that may be difficult to express with words alone.

In the workshop, you will:

• Begin with a guided visualization to explore a personal story or landscape of your life’s journey.
• Respond to the experience by creating an art piece, using paint and various other materials to visually represent your inner imagery.

This workshop provides a space for self-exploration and creative expression, regardless of your artistic experience. No prior art skills are required—just a willingness to explore and create from within.

Instructor Background:

Danielle Heyer, an intern in the Licensed Professional Counseling program at Ottawa University, leads this workshop with a focus on Expressive Art Therapy. Danielle is passionate about guiding individuals through creative processes that promote self-awareness, healing, and emotional resilience. Using techniques from a variety of therapeutic approaches—including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Sensorimotor Therapy, and Attachment Therapy—she helps people navigate personal challenges, build emotional strength, and deepen their connection to themselves.

Through the Mixed Media Visualization workshop, Danielle offers a compassionate and supportive space for participants to connect with their inner selves and express their experiences through mixed media art.

The Rosemary Tree Creative Therapy:

Our Expressive Arts Workshops are through a partnership with The Rosemary Tree, a holistic counseling practice integrating wellness and whole-person care. The Rosemary Tree is dedicated to transforming how therapy is experienced for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Their innovative approach integrates creative modalities into evidence-based practices, making each session something you can anticipate with a sense of curiosity and hope.
