Mixed-Media Filmmaking Workshop: Turn Your Video Into an Animation
About this Event
You'll turn a short video into frame-by-frame animation, made by hand.
Send us a 10-second clip (or use one of ours) and we'll print it as a series of black and white frames. You'll draw, paint, collage and cut your way through those frames with whatever you like: acrylics, crayons, magazine clippings, glitter, thread.
We'll start by showing you a few examples of mixed-media animation and walking you through how we turned your video into these printed frames. You'll get a quick primer on the basics of animation and motion too, then it's over to you.
We have all the basics covered: paint, crayons, scissors, glue and more. Bring your own materials too if you have favourites; old magazines are especially welcome for collaging.
Towards the end of the day, we'll show you how to turn your finished frames into an animation yourself. You'll need to scan your frames afterwards. No scanner? We can scan them for you and send you the files.
The workshop is Saturday 26 September, 15:00 to 18:00, at De Sering West.
Send your video before 20 September, 17:00, so we have time to print it. Email your 10-second clip to [email protected]. We'll turn it black and white by default, since it's easier to paint on but let us know if you'd rather have your frames printed in colour. No video ready? You can animate frames from one of the videos we've made instead.
Tickets are free. On the day, we'll ask for a donation of your choice to help cover materials. €10 is suggested but pay what you want.
