Girl Geek Academy presents a fabulous experience full of fun, developing friendships and learning to code where girls and women* will learn together!

#MissMakesCode is the first initiative in the world created to build confidence and self-efficacy in the areas of algorithmic thinking, programming and coding for primary school girls.

After meeting with Girl Geek Academy, you'll be each set up with coding exercises applicable to your experience & skills.

Then you'll come together to work on a project together!

We will also be discussing gender equality while the girls make new friends and code with their peers.

This is a fabulous opportunity for women to experience coding alongside their girls, as well as the ability speak openly about cyber safety and gender equality issues.

You will need to bring a laptop to complete the activities for this workshop - unfortunately a tablet doesn't offer the flexibility we need. So find yourself a computer and get ready to roll ??‍???‍???‍???‍???‍?

Who can attend?

This event is for women (mums, aunts, grandmas, aunties, neighbours) and primary school girls.

Can my child attend alone?

As we want to create an experience that can be continued at home, children will need to be accompanied by an adult.

What do I need to pack for us?

• One tablet or laptop per participant. If your child has learned coding before, bring a laptop so we can share more advanced and challenging work with them.
• A snack and a drink bottle.

What does Girl Geek Academy provide?

• Learning activities and games both on and off the computer
• Resources to keep learning 
• Advice about what you can continue to do at home
• Industry professionals and helpers

What time should we be there?

Workshop will begin at 9:30am and finish at 12:00pm.

Please allow time before the workshop to complete and sign in form.

We have never coded, can we attend?

Yes!  Participants will learn the basic coding concepts and can work through the program at your own pace with support from other participants and our teacher.

What will we learn?

Women and girls will learn the basic coding concepts and algorithmic thinking.

My child has attended a #MissMakesCode course before, can she attend?

Yes! This is an opportunity for you to learn alongside your child. The coding concepts can be applied again and again.

I know how to code, can I come?

Yes, you can come as we will provide resources for you to use at home with your child. This session is great because it is a shared activity.

Do you offer refunds?

Due to the nature of our courses and the work that goes in to preparing for your attendance, we cannot offer refunds. So don't register unless you actually intend to join us! :-)
