About this Event
Canada has committed up to $6 billion through BDC’s Defence Platform — including the new $300M Strong North Fund targeting deep tech and dual-use startups — alongside $357.7 million through Regional Development Agencies and PacifiCan. Australia’s superannuation funds collectively manage nearly $4 trillion in capital and have been invited to identify investment in major Canadian opportunities including advanced technology and infrastructure. Together, the two countries are constructing one of the most consequential bilateral industrial partnerships in the Indo-Pacific. As unique Five Eyes partners, both countries have also raised their defence spending in relation to their GDP.
Hosted by Doug Lui, a seasoned VC and strategic leader in impact investment, a panel featuring David Tsui, Canadian Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner, senior executives from BlackBerry, MDA Space and BDC (TBC), moderated by Yvonne Lau, tech reporter from Financial Post, the session will cover:
• AI, Robotics & Autonomous Systems
• Selling into Defence: The How
• BD Strategy at Scale
• The Investor Lens on Dual-Use
• Capital & Economic Opportunity
• Canada–Australia as a Market Model
