Denim and Pearls Gala, An Evening of Excellence Western Style

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, the Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® will proudly host the "Denim and Pearls Gala," a distinguished Miss Fashionetta® Scholarship Benefit. This year's powerful theme, “It’s My Time to Shine: An Evening of Excellence Western Style,” underscores our commitment to excellence and empowerment! Our beautiful, promising pearls—young girls ages 4 to 18—will be presented to society at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center in Tyler, Texas, at 6:30 pm.

This year's honoree is Mrs. Velora Douglas, a distinguished educator and community leader with over 50 years of dedicated service to our signature scholarship program.

The proceeds from the benefit gala will be used to:

1. Fund scholarships for graduating high school females.

2. Support our community services and programs, focusing on six key initiatives:

- Strengthen Our Sisterhood: This will serve as the administration’s Foundation Initiative,

enhancing our bonds to support our mission of sisterhood and service.

- Empower Our Families

- Build Our Economic Wealth

- Enhance Our Environment

- Advocate for Social Justice

- Uplift Our Local Community

These initiatives are designed to improve the lives of those we serve. We will work collaboratively to maximize our outreach on progressive endeavors and consistently produce leaders who embody our service principle. The Miss Fashionetta® program focuses on mentorship and empowering our young ladies to reach greater heights in service and academics. It teaches the importance of self-advocacy, life skills, self-worth, and proper etiquette. Every year, we publish a memorable souvenir booklet, which will be generated electronically in E-Book format this year. Printed copies will be available for contestants as a keepsake gift. The electronic souvenir booklet will feature congratulatory ads and sponsorship messages from family, friends, and local businesses. We encourage our community to support these young ladies by sponsoring the event or purchasing a congratulatory ad. Tickets will also be available for those who wish to witness this memorable event.

Please note that all congratulatory ads, sponsorships, and collected funds must be submitted by Sunday, May 11, 2025. Email all ads to [email protected]. The deadline to purchase tickets online is Sunday, May 25, 2025.
