❄️ December Bird Walk at Minto-Brown Island Park! 🐦
December kicks off the winter bird census season — and it’s Christmas Bird Count (CBC) time! This month’s Minto-Brown field trip helps prep for Count Day on Saturday, December 19, as we canvas for species around Sector #4 of the Salem CBC circle.
Minto-Brown’s 1,200+ acres offer a great variety of habitats to explore, making it one of the best spots to spot both resident and wintering birds. This walk marks the start of Count Week, when sightings help capture a snapshot of local bird populations.
Meet at 8:00 a.m. in Parking Lot #3 (the last lot in the park). Dress for the weather, bring water, snacks, and binoculars. Trails can be uneven, so wear sturdy shoes. We’ll wrap up between 11:30 and noon.
