MINT & ACP: Photo Artist Discussion
About this event
MINT & Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) host a photo artist panel discussion with José Ibarra Rizo and Shawn Campbell moderated by ACP's new Executive Director, Stephanie Dowda DeMer.
Both explore portraiture as a source of identity and storytelling in transformative ways. This artist dialogue will cover each artists' innovative studio practice, influences in pop culture and classical image making, as well as how their work reshapes social identities. Come by for the discussion (2:30-3:30pm) and meet the artists (2-4pm).
About the Artists
José Ibarra Rizo is the recipient of the inaugural Mint + ACP Emerging Artist Fellowship. Somewhere in Between is his ongoing portrait series documenting the migrant experience in the American South.
Shawn Campbell is featured in the 2021 Atlanta Celebrates Photography Ones To Watch selection by independent curator Mary Stanley. Campbell’s work engages with subjects such as: the military, football, religion, propaganda, and government. Exploring these threads he often uncovers unexpected relationships between them.
