This week at Minnehaha Park we are hosting the Minneapolis Police Band, a concert band. The Minneapolis Police Band was formed in 1917 to further improve relations between the police department and the community. The band is the oldest continuously-running police band in the United States, and is a treasured local institution. Membership is open to active and retired officers as well as civilian volunteers. Since 1892, Music in the Parks has provided residents and families opportunities to gather and enjoy local music throughout the summer. Since its inception thousands of free concerts have taken place. Concerts are weekly and vary from classic rock, hip hop, international, funk and many more genres of music.
