About this Event
Pastors are often among the first people called when someone is in crisis. Congregants show up carrying anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, grief, burnout, and deep isolation, often long before a clinician is involved.
Many ministry leaders feel the weight of wanting to help, while also sensing the limits of their training and role.
This workshop is designed to help pastors and ministry leaders minister wisely and faithfully in moments of mental health crisis.
Together, we will explore:
- How to recognize common mental health challenges within congregational life
- Practical tools for listening, discerning, and responding pastorally in moments of crisis
- When and how to refer wisely and how to stay relationally present after referral
- How pastors, counselors, and therapists can collaborate as partners
- Healthy pastoral boundaries that protect both leaders and congregants
This gathering will help ministry leaders develop shared language, trust, and working relationships with clinicians who serve the same people we do.
In Partnership with Fuller Seminary
School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy
Faculty from Fuller’s School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy will bring clinical insight shaped by theological depth and pastoral awareness, offering frameworks that help churches care well for people navigating mental health challenges while strengthening collaboration between church and counseling contexts.
