About this Event
Wagashi Workshops
A beginner-friendly series of hands-on cooking workshops to learn the fundamentals of Japanese style confections (commonly called 和菓子 wagashi), traditionally enjoyed with tea.
About the Workshop
Learn traditional Japanese ingredients and basic techniques for making suhama from Sen Sakamoto of Kintoki Sweets. Suhama are a soybean-based confectionery often used as a snack for Tea Ceremonies. The workshop will cover basic techniques and tips to create these traditional little candies.
Equipment and ingredients will be provided. All skill levels are welcome. However, we will be working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, so a minimum age of 10 is recommended.
Please bring your own apron if you would to stay extra clean, but it is not necessary. A container will be provided to take home your creation.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is vegan friendly and wheat-free but please note the kitchen is not a certified gluten-free kitchen.
