Mini Science Fair NYC: Kids STEM Experiment Adventure
Welcome to Mini Science Fair NYC, a two-hour hands-on STEM adventure created for curious kids ages 5–12.
Instead of simply watching science demonstrations, children will become the scientists themselves. Guided by friendly STEM staff and volunteers, participants will rotate through a collection of interactive experiment stations where they can mix, build, test, observe, and discover.
Young scientists will explore activities such as:
- Erupting volcano experiments
- DIY slime creation
- Giant bubble science
- Baking soda rocket launches
- Color-changing chemistry
- Density and floating experiments
- Magnet discovery challenges
- Simple engineering and building activities
Every activity is designed to introduce basic STEM concepts through play and experimentation.
Children will also visit the Junior Scientist Photo Lab, where they can wear a white lab coat, pose with science props, and capture a memorable family photo.
At the end of the experience, every participating child will receive an official
Junior Scientist Certificate celebrating their discoveries.
No previous science experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment
Timeline:
10:30 AM – Junior Scientist Check-In
Registration, name badges, lab coat photo opportunity, and welcome briefing.
10:45 AM – Science Station Rotation #1
Children begin exploring the first group of interactive experiments.
11:15 AM – Science Station Rotation #2
Participants rotate to new stations featuring chemistry, bubbles, engineering, and motion-based activities.
11:45 AM – Rocket & Volcano Finale
Group demonstrations and supervised hands-on experiments featuring bubbling volcanoes and baking soda-powered rockets.
12:05 PM – Junior Scientist Photo Lab
Lab coats, science props, experiment displays, and family photo opportunities.
12:20 PM – Junior Scientist Graduation
Certificate presentation and final group celebration.
