An ofrenda, also known as an altar, is a central part of the Day of the Dead celebration. It is a tribute to deceased loved ones that is meant to welcome their spirits back to the living world. In this workshop, learn more about this treasured holiday, honor your lost loved ones and create a mini ofrenda that you can easily store and save for years- made out of sustainable materials!
Supplies will be provided in order to create a customized ofrenda that is meaningful to you, but we also encourage participants to bring objects from home! These objects can include (but are not limited to) pictures of loved ones, candy, your loved ones' favorite foods/drinks and decorations. Keep in mind the miniature size of these altars when deciding what to bring!
3D Ofrendas: This finished project will be 7” wide, 5” deep and 7” tall. Each shelf is approximately 5” wide and 1.5” deep. Items can be permanently attached or placed on the shelves temporarily. We have limited materials for this project, offered on a first-come-first-served basis to participants!
2D Ofrendas: This finished project is 11” wide and 14” tall. Don’t bring anything you don’t mind securing to this project permanently.
This workshop is appropriate for ages 10+ only. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If the adult is there only to assist, they do not have to purchase a separate ticket for themselves. If the adult wishes to participate as well, they must have their own ticket.

Hi everyone, my name is Minerva. I am 22 years old and I’m from San Luis Potosí Mexico. I make a little bit of everything from earrings, shirts, and paper crafts; everything that I make is inspired by my culture. I hope everyone loves what I make as much as I love making it.
