Gentle moves, big moves, small moves, fast moves. We'll get you ready and warm to take on the day!

11:45AM-1:15PM: Momentum + Floorwork Kelsey

Dancers will find their inner squirrel as the class:

- Breaks down techniques of entering, leaving, and partnering with the floor

- Experiments with moves of momentum having to do with circularity, spirals, and flight

- Explores finding center of gravity through inversions and obscure alignments

1:15-2:15PM : Brown Bag with Festival Artists

2:15-3:45PM: Re-Embodying Modern Forms w/ Cami

This class will explore elements of Horton technique via Bartenieff Fundamental principles. Participants will engage with Horton based movements with the verbal cueing of Bartenieff Fundamentals in order to re-embody the concepts of both forms by bringing them into conversation with one another. (and some floorwork too!)

4-5:30PM: ¡PRESENTE! w/ Alexandra

Presente in Spanish literally means here but is also used in Latin American activism work to hold in memory those who are not no longer here physically but are present in spirit and in the work that is being done.

This performance art workshop focuses on finding the stories that our bodies already hold and how to present that through movement/dance in relation to music and sound, to other performers and our audience. This workshop is meant to explore performance, presence and trusting that our bodies and natural movement is all we need to tell a story.

*Agora Artists Ticketing Philosophy: RSVP to save your seat, no payment upfront – let us know you’re coming!

We realize revenue from ticket sales doesn’t bring in the big bucks and often is a barrier of entry for community members. Instead of paying for a ticket, we invite you to save your seat and come to the show…and while you’re there make a donation! We’re calling it pay-what-you-can-if-you-can. If it’s helpful, you can think of the price you would’ve paid for a ticket to see the show, or you can think about the cost of paying an arts worker – for example, each choreographer stipend is $500.

Our goal is to empower audiences to support in whatever way they can. Whether its showing up, donating or both! This approach broadens the scope of a patron’s financial impact. Pulling emphasis away from the presentation of art, it prompts audiences to consider the full scope of an artist’s experience–the classes, rehearsals, production meetings, and beyond. Constantly guided by questions and seeking feedback, we are excited to see the impact of this change on our audience. We’re curious… what happens when audience members are given the agency to determine the value of their experience and how they exercise that value???
