Recognized as one of ABQ's Top 10 Monthly Events by the NM Entertainment Awards!Join us for another night of art, community and beauty, as we embrace creativity and help us celebrate the first ever Voices of the Barrio Slam Team - on a special day!
Voices of the Barrio, a reoccurring slam poetry night in Albuquerque, was founded in September 2015 by Marcial and Stephanie Delgado as a way of giving back to a community they fell in love with. Marcial has been on many slam teams, but a Voices of the Barrio team has never existed. That changed in 2024, after a spirited conversation in an airport terminal.
Delgado, along with Kristin Patton, Savannah Rodriguez, and Caleb Feganchick comprise the first ever Voices of the Barrio slam team - competing for the first time in the March 2025 Chicharra Poetry Slam Festival here in Burque!
Each of these poets are fierce competitors with a diverse publication portfolio and a passion for giving back to their community. Home is where the heart is, and their heart is in the Barrio.
An as always, on the open mic, you can share whatever you like, any topic, any theme.
We will be starting sign up at 6 pm, and the open mic starts at 6:30 pm sharp, so get here early to ensure you get on the mic and don't miss any of the giggly good stuff!
Music, comedy, poetry - it’s all welcome!
This event takes place the last Friday of every month at our home away from home, Ancora Café & Bakery, where you can grab some great food, beverages and a hug or two from friends.

and employs folks who are in recovery. We are so excited to be in this beautiful space, and we can not wait to support this community!
