Two different weeks: June 28 - July 2 & July 12 - July 16
Open to all Summer Instrument Intensive participants, this course is designed to heighten a musician's focus, relaxation, confidence, and peak performance levels. Guided through the mindfulness and contemplative practices of meditation, visualization, resonance frequency breathing, embodied rhythm studies, and "Performance Beyond Fear" exercises, students develop a practical understanding of mindfulness as it is applied to personal health, well-being, and musical performance. Through stretching, alignment, breathwork, relaxation techniques, and class discussion, students will develop confidence and synchronization of body, breath, mind and music.
Runs 8:45AM - 9:45AM (CDT) daily before each Instrument Intensive by Stephen Burns, DePaul School of Music faculty member.
Mr. Burns is a certified teacher in The Art of Practicing, authorized group meditation instructor, Shambhala Meditation Center and winner of the Maurice Andre and Young Concert Artists competitions.
Apply now to an Instrument Intensive and add this workshop onto your summer learning.
This event will be held virtually and not in person on the School of Music campus. Acceptance into a Summer Instrument Intensive is required for registration for this workshop.
