Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Behavioral Health Professionals
About this Event
On Friday, September 25, 2026, at 9:30 AM time, Rebel Recovery, in partnership with Coastline Consulting Partners, will offer a live introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. The training is designed for behavioral health professionals and others whose work can bring high levels of stress, emotional strain, and burnout.
Participants will be guided through practical mindfulness exercises, including breathing techniques, the body scan, the STOP practice, and gentle movement that can be used during a busy workday. No previous mindfulness or meditation experience is needed, and participants will leave with guided toolkits, audio tracks, and other resources to continue practicing after the session.
Practical stress management for demanding work
Most of us know we should manage stress. Knowing what to do in the moment, between clients/participants, before a difficult conversation, or at the end of a long day, is harder.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, or MBSR, was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979 and has since been studied extensively. Studies of MBSR have found reductions in perceived stress and anxiety, along with improvements in sleep and attention. This session offers a practical introduction to several of its core practices.
We will spend most of the session practicing, with clear guidance and time for questions. You will leave with short techniques you can use between appointments, before a challenging meeting, or when you are having trouble settling down at night.
What you will learn
- How stress affects the body and attention, and how to pause before reacting.
- Four guided MBSR practices: the body scan, mindful breathing, the STOPpractice, and gentle movement that can be done at a desk.
- A brief reset between meetings, sessions, or calls that takes about three minutes and can be done quietly.
- Ways to notice reactivity, rumination, and avoidance before they take over the moment.
- A realistic home practice plan built around ten minutes a day and the schedule you already have.
- A downloadable practice guide and audio recordings to help you continue after the session.
Who this session is for
- Behavioral health and healthcare staff managing heavy caseloads, secondary traumatic stress, or exhaustion.
- Helping professionals, including case managers, peer specialists, nurses, teachers first responders, child welfare staff, and advocates.
- Team leaders and human resources professionals looking for practical stress management training for their staff.
- Anyone who feels stretched thin and wants concrete skills they can practice in daily life.
