Mindful Sports Day

Event Description:
Join us at RCW Athletic Club for our inaugural 'Mindful Sports Day,' a unique experience crafted to integrate meditation and mindfulness with sports activities for junior athletes. This free 1.5-hour event is designed for children aged 8 and up, offering a blend of wellness techniques, meditation practices, and tennis-based activities.

Hosts and Special Guests:
Under the guidance of our RCW Coaching Team, and accompanied by American Buddhist monks Venerable Michael and Venerable Nick, participants will discover the calming effects of mindfulness practices through engaging, age-appropriate activities.

Agenda:

• 12:30 PM: Arrival and Welcome
• • Kids will be greeted by the RCW Staff and our esteemed guests, Venerable Michael and Venerable Nick.
• 12:45 PM: Group Division and Introduction
• • After a brief introduction to the day's activities, children will be organized into age-specific groups.
• 1:00 PM: Rotating Stations
• • Groups will rotate among various stations set up across our indoor tennis courts. Activities will include movement exercises, breathing techniques, and an introduction to tennis and racquet handling. No prior tennis experience is needed.
• 1:30 PM: Group Meditation and Mindfulness Talk
• • All participants will reconvene for a discussion led by Venerable Nick and Venerable Michael focusing on the importance of 'stillness' in daily life and how meditation can support mental well-being. The talk will be tailored to resonate with young minds.
• 1:50 PM: Closing and Invitation to Evening Event
• • After the session, kids are invited to assist the RCW Team in setting up for the evening’s ‘Calm Night by Candlelight’ event. This is a fantastic opportunity to introduce your child to the fundamentals of mindfulness in a fun and engaging way, teaching them valuable techniques to slow down and manage their thoughts.

Additional Information:
This workshop is entirely secular and is not affiliated with any religious practices. It’s a fantastic opportunity for children to learn valuable techniques to manage their thoughts and incorporate stillness into their active lives.
