🕯️ Managing Stress During the Holidays with Mindfulness, Meditation, and Mindful Movement The holidays can be joyful… and overwhelming. This class combines mindful movement, breathwork, and guided meditation to help you manage expectations, reduce anxiety, and create moments of peace and joy throughout the season. Learn simple strategies to care for yourself, cultivate calm, and reconnect with what truly matters this season.
This special 2-hour class combines the healing power of movement with the insights of mental health education, led by the compassionate and experienced Susan Dannen, LISW. Together, we will explore how mindfulness and movement can help manage holiday stress.
Alongside these practices, we’ll also dive into:
* Understanding our stress response
* Exploring various types of holiday stress
* Recognizing signs of stress
* Ways to manage stress & when to seek professional support
You will leave grounded, comforted, and nurtured.
🌿 What You’ll Experience:
Gentle Yoga Flow – Begin with movement, meditation, & breathwork to ground your body & mind.
Interactive Educational Segment – Learn from a licensed mental health professional about: Holiday Stress, how it impacts us and how we can use yoga and mindfulness to ground and support us in finding holiday joy.
We'll close with guided relaxation, and restorative poses, to integrate what you've learned in your mind & body.

Who Should Attend:
This class is for anyone who wants to learn strategies for managing stress more effectively during the holiday season. This class is not intended to replace therapy, instead its purpose is to provide education, enhance therapeutic outcomes & allow practice of self-care skills.
Safe & Supportive Environment: With a maximum of 12 students, this trauma-sensitive class allows you to engage at your comfort level. Share only what is comfortable to you.
Details:
Instructor: Susan Dannen, RYT-200, LISW, an experienced yoga teacher and mental health professional. Susan is a therapist & co-owner at River Roots Mental Health and Wellness Center in West Des Moines. She regularly teaches seminars nationally & internationally on mental health & wellness to a variety of participants.
Registration: Please register through the provided "ticket" link, which will take you to the registration form. You will need to pay a $10 nonrefundable fee to hold your spot.
Registration will remain open, and should we reach capacity, a waitlist will be established. Your spot will not be confirmed until your hold fee is paid. If the spots fill up, which they often do, we will start a waitlist. In the event someone cancels, those who are on the registered waitlist & paid the hold fee, will get first priority. If you are on the waitlist & a spot doesn't open up, your $10 fee will be returned. You will be contacted within 48 hours to let you know that you are registered or on the waitlist. If the waitlist grows sufficiently, we may open an additional class time.
Cost: $25 per person
Extras: Bring a mat. A limited number of mats are available at the studio if you don't have one. Props are available for everyone, but feel free to bring your own and don't forget a water bottle!
